Privacy

Kin is built on a simple idea: your relationships are yours. This policy is short because there isn’t much to disclose — that’s by design.

What Kin stores, and where

Everything you put into Kin — the people you name, the moments you log, your notes, photos, and feelings — is stored on your device. Kin has no accounts, no sign-up, and no server of its own. We cannot read your notes, see your photos, or know the names of the people in your sky, because none of that ever reaches us.

If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. You can export everything at any time from Settings → Export my sky.

What Kin never collects

  • The names of people in your sky
  • The contents of your notes or moments
  • Your photos
  • Your contacts (Kin never asks for contact access)
  • Your location
  • Any advertising identifier — Kin contains no ads and no trackers for ads

Usage analytics

To understand how Kin is used and improve it, we collect a small amount of anonymous usage data through PostHog: which features are used (for example, “a moment was logged” or “a widget was added”), device type, and app version. These events never include the content of what you wrote, who it was about, or anything that identifies you personally. We do not create user profiles, and this data is not linked to your identity.

Notifications

If you choose to set a stargazing hour, Kin schedules one local notification per day on your device. This never involves a server.

Face ID

If you enable the lock, Face ID is handled entirely by iOS. Kin never sees your biometric data — it only receives a yes/no from the system.

Purchases

Kin offers one lifetime purchase, processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Children

Kin does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, children included — it isn’t designed to collect personal information at all.

Changes

If this policy ever changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you plainly before the change applies.
